Who we are
Our website address is: https://warriors.ulb.be. We are hosted by the web servers of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
The data collected are checked by the Akismet Anti-Spam service. Specifically, the information that Akismet collects and checks is your IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (i.e. they know that the comment was submitted to our website), along with other information directly provided by you in the comment form, such as your name, email address, personal website (optional) and the comment itself, of course. The Akismet service privacy policy as it applies to site visitors is available here.
Contact forms
We collect all data you choose to include (i.e. your name, email address, message subject and the message itself). We use this data to reply to your message. This data, unlike comments and comment metadata, is not shared with third parties without your express permission, unless required to by law.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Default WordPress cookies will last for one year.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If you contact us via our contact form, the message and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so that we might contact you in response to your message and preserve a record of our correspondence.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, or have contacted us via our contact form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
As mentioned above:
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
